A quality beard care regimen starts with washing your beard. This may not be a new idea to most of you, but some obvious questions arise.

Why do you need to wash your beard?

Whether or not you still have hair on the top of your head, it’s important to make a conscious effort to care for your beard, not just because of your beard health, but the health of your skin that covered by that glorious mane.

Washing your beard helps clear out microorganisms that cause itching and flaking. It is vitally important to keep your beard hairs healthy and hydrated. Your beard does a lot for your face by protecting it from the sun’s UV rays as well as buffering it from the elements. All this hard work can quickly lead to a dehydrated, unhealthy, and sad-looking beard.

You should wash your beard with warm water as it opens up the pores on your face to better receive the life giving hydration. We sell an excellent Every Day Beard Soap made with ingredients that clean and hydrate.

  1. When you are in the shower get your whole beard wet, work the soap in your hands to create a good lather, then apply to your beard.. Be sure to give the skin underneath your beard a gentle massage as well.
  2. Rinse your beard completely after letting the soap sit for a minute or so.
  3. Once you’ve towel-dried your beard, follow up with the leave in conditioner of your choice.  We sell several excellent Beard Oils and Dry Oils. There are other soaps, shampoos, and conditioners out there just be sure the ingredients clean and hydrate, and be aware that the chemicals in many off-the-shelf conditioners can actually dry out your beard, doing more harm than good.
